Dartington hall

2025/063: Another example of brutalism around Dartington Hall. I was told that there used to be a student residence on the grounds. The bunk beds where you spend the night here have something of the feel of monastic cells. But there is a swimming pool!

2025/062: Mist rises from the lush meadows along the River Dart before the sun, which will soon appear on the horizon, dispels it. A fenced-in view of the rolling Devon countryside.

2025/061: In the backyard of a workshop at Dartington Hall, I find brutalist remains of a post-war extension. The country estate is surrounded by a beautiful forest and the last remnants of post-war brutalism. I stand with my Nokton lens in between.

2025/060: The rear of Dartington Hall illustrates how the estate grew over several generations. A pleasant patchwork of stone.

2025/059: The old Dartington Hall cemetery, guarded by the tower of St Mary's Church. Lots of old stone around really old plants. In the extension to the tower stands a really damn old tree. Wired!

2025/058: Lush vegetation at the start of autumn on the River Dart. The trees that ventured too far from the water had to pay a high price.

2025/057: Lush vegetation at the start of autumn on the River Dart. The trees touch the water, but keep a respectful distance. (A week ago there was still high water here.)

2025/056: View of the Dart River, which meanders leisurely through the valley near Totnes/Dartington. The water comes directly from the legendary Dartmoor.
